City Gardens
The Fairgreen Neighborhood Garden, received a neighborhood SUCCESS grant from the Raymond John Wean Foundation in 2008. The garden currently has 7 members and lots of friends! In 2008 we grew herbs, broccoli, onion, scallions,, carrots, swissh chard and a variety of lettuce, peppers, tomotoes and potatoes, with the help of JCC Adventure Camp, The Beatitude House and neighborhood kids. See slide show here.
In addition to Fairgreen we mentored and grew seedlings for Unity Garden at Unity Church Centre on Naylor Lloyd Road in Girard. This garden is now being managed by Michael Swaitkwic along with some satellite gardens. They have expanded their garden space for 2009 on the property and are experimenting with satellite gardens.
